Rethymno is made up of two main areas:

Old Town — a charming historic quarter built around the Venetian harbour, with winding cobblestone streets, traditional tavernas, and beautiful architecture.

Beachfront Strip — a 2–3 km stretch along the sandy beach lined with modern resorts, offering more amenities and a relaxed holiday vibe, while still being close to town.

If you choose to stay further out (for example, in a larger villa), you may need to organise a car or transfers to get into town.
